Diagnosing nontuberculous mycobacterial cervicofacial lymphadenitis in children: A systematic review
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Jun 22, 2018
Willemse SH, et al. - Authors gathered the available evidence with respect to diagnosing nontuberculous mycobacterial cervicofacial (NTM) lymphadenitis. A positive PPD-S skin in patients with a high clinical suspicion for NTM cervicofacial lymphadenitis is indicative for the diagnosis of NTM cervicofacial lymphadenitis. In order to confirm the diagnosis either polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or culture is necessary. Seemingly good sensitivity and specificity as a non-invasive pre-operative test were provided by interferon-γ release assays with purified protein derivative stimulation, but the evidence is weak.
