Diabetes risk assessment with imaging: A radiomics study of abdominal CT

European Radiology Apr 07, 2019

Lu CQ, et al. - Using a radiomics method, researchers found CT markers for early type 2 diabetes screening and evaluation of incident diabetes risk. Medical records were reviewed for 26,947 patients, and 690 subjects were chosen and sent to a primary cohort, a validation cohort, and a prediction cohort and used to create diabetes prediction models. Data reported that the nomogram's sensitivity and specificity for predicting 3-year incident diabetes was 0.827 and 0.807, respectively. For screening early diabetes and predicting future diabetes, the pancreatic radiomics signature (which is five CT image characteristics combined) is effective. For undiagnosed type 2 diabetes screening and 3-year diabetes incident prediction, this investigation offers different radiomics markers.
