Diabetes mellitus and age are risk factors of interval colon cancer: A case-control study
Digestive Diseases Feb 13, 2019
Laish I, et al. - In a population from Israel, researchers assessed if tumor and patient features could be predictors of interval cancer. They included patients that were diagnosed with colon cancer in the institution and had two colonoscopies. There were no significant differences between patients with interval cancer occurring < 3 years and after 3–10 years. Investigators found that interval cancer patients tend to be older and have diabetes. For pre-malignant lesions, these patient groups should be more carefully or more frequently screened.
