Diabetes as a risk factor of hospitalization in the surgical ward due to cancer in the elderly and middle-aged population

Dabrowski M, et al. – A scrutiny was performed of the link between diabetes and hospital admissions to the surgery unit, as a result of malignancy among elderly and middle–aged people. Patients with diabetes, particularly elderly and urban inhabitants, appeared to be at a greater risk of hospital admission due to malignancy. Hence, a need arose for oncological vigilance in such patients. This would facilitate early detection and treatment of cancers common in this cohort.
