Liu Y, et al. - Researchers, herein, analyzed the data from randomized controlled trials comparing the renal impact of dexmedetomidine vs placebo or other anesthetic drugs in adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Based on the findings, they concluded that in such a patient population, an attenuated incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury may be seen when dexmedetomidine is given in the perioperative period.
