Development of and progression of overt heart failure in non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
The American Journal of Cardiology May 19, 2018
Hiemstra YL, et al. - In patients with non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HC), researchers tested the prognostic value of left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) and other clinical and echocardiographic characteristics for the development of heart failure (HF). Correlation of changes in echocardiographic parameters over time with HF development was also assessed. In non-obstructive HC patients, LV dysfunction was recognized as a progressive phenomenon. Repeated echocardiography allowed detection of LV dysfunction in these patients. GLS and left atrial volume at baseline as well as their changes over time were found to be related to HF.
