Development and validation of a nomogram for prognosis of sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology Jul 24, 2019
Quan H, et al. - Via identifying 1766 patients diagnosed with sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC) between 2004 and 2015 from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, researchers built a nomogram for predicting survival of patients with SNSCC. By concordance index and calibration curve, the predictive accuracy and discriminative ability of the nomogram have been determined. The Cox regression assessment showed, based on 1412 training cohort cases, that age, marital status, primary site, differentiation, T stage, N classification, M stage, and treatment modalities were linked to overall survival. The authors developed and validated a nomogram based on the SEER database that showed better prognostic discrimination and predictive accuracy for SNSCC. The variables in the nomogram are available routinely. It can, therefore, be used easily in clinical practice. Physicians could use this nomogram to predict individual survival and enhance counseling for patients.
