Development and validation of a new scoring system to predict survival in patients with myotonic dystrophy type 1
JAMA Neurology Feb 11, 2018
Wahbi K, et al. - The purpose of this research was to formulate and validate a prognostic score in order to speculate the 10-year survival in patients with myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1). The DM1 prognostic score was developed and validated internally and externally based on a set of common patient characteristics: Age, diabetes, need for support when walking, heart rate, systolic blood pressure, first-degree atrioventricular, bundle-branch block, and vital capacity. Researchers drew the conclusion that DM1 prognostic score was linked with the long-term survival.
