Determinants of long-term clinical outcomes in patients with angina but without obstructive coronary artery disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Heart Journal Apr 27, 2018
Radico F, et al. - Researchers used random-effects models to estimate pooled incidences of long-term adverse outcomes (all-cause death and non-fatal myocardial infarction) in patients with angina and no obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). Published studies reporting on these outcomes were identified from PubMed, Cochrane Library, the Embase database, and the Clinical Trials Registry. Major adverse events were primarily determined by the presence of “some” coronary atherosclerosis, with unequivocal myocardial ischemia being associated with worse clinical outcomes. The high incidence of hospitalization, angina recurrence, and repeated coronary angiography were also shown to worsen quality of life of patients.
