Detection of carcinoembryonic antigen in peritoneal fluid of patients undergoing laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with complete mesogastric excision
British Journal of Surgery Jul 18, 2018
Xie D, et al. - Whether or not laparoscopic gastrectomy with complete mesogastric excision (D2 + CME) reduces the number of free intraperitoneal cancer cells was investigated. Researchers analyzed patients with gastric cancer who had a conventional D2 or D2 + CME laparoscopic distal gastrectomy between April 2015 and February 2017 and concluded that laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with complete mesogastric excision results in a reduction in the number of free intraperitoneal cancer cells and is linked with a better disease-free survival than conventional D2 gastrectomy.
