Connelly KJ, et al. - The experts aimed to figure out whether thyroid function tests reliably separate congenital central hypothyroidism (CH-C) from T4-binding globulin (TBG) deficiency. They described that the diagnosis of CH-C depends solely on subnormal serum free T4, but was supported by the demonstration of other pituitary hormone deficiencies. They revealed that the serum TBG (or T3RU) levels did not play a role in the diagnosis of CH-C.
