Description of nighttime cough epochs in patients with stable COPD GOLD II–IV
International Journal of COPD Apr 11, 2018
Fischer P, et al. - Given ambulatory objective monitoring provides novel insights into the determinants and characteristics of nighttime cough in COPD, researchers analyzed nighttime cough for epoch frequency, epoch severity (epoch length and coughs per epoch), and pattern (productive or nonproductive) in patients with stable COPD II–IV who underwent objective monitoring for nighttime cough using LEOSound lung sound monitor. A high rate of nighttime cough epochs was noted in COPD patients, especially in those in stage III. Those with persistent smoking predominantly had a productive cough. LEOSound lung sound monitor offers a practical and valuable opportunity to evaluate cough objectively.
