Hanns L, et al. - Authors ascertained whether depressive symptoms assessed near diagnosis associated with future measures of pain, disability and disease for adolescent patients diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Findings suggested that more active joints, pain and disability at the time of the first specialist appointment were seen in the adolescent patients with JIA and depressive symptoms. For at least one year, the associations between baseline depression and both pain and disability continued, nonetheless, this was not the case for the active joint count.
