Depression and risk of gestational diabetes: A meta-analysis of cohort studies
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Aug 29, 2019
Arafa A, et al. - By a meta-analysis of cohort studies, researchers systematically evaluated the connection between depression and risk of gestational diabetes. Before December 31, 2018, multiple electronic databases for cohort studies examining depression and risk of gestational diabetes were searched. Using a fixed- or random-effect model, pooled ORs and CIs of the included articles were calculated. Using the Egger’s and Begg’s tests, publication bias was detected. Five cohort studies were obtained with a total number of 122,197 women. Findings suggested that women with depression history may be at increased risk of gestational diabetes. There was some evidence of publishing bias, but correction for such bias using "trim-and-fill" analysis resulted in similar results. In order to verify the results, future prospective high-quality studies are required.
