Delays in care seeking for young children with accidental skull fractures are common
Acta Pediatrica Nov 20, 2020
Metz JB, Otjen JP, Perez FA, et al. - In this study, the frequency and patterns of delayed medical care-seeking for young children with skull fractures were ascertained. Researchers distinguished accidental skull fractures < 4 years‐old, 2011‐2012. As per the findings, two hundred and ten children had accidental skull fractures. The results of this study demonstrated that delayed care-seeking is common for minor, but not major accidental infant and toddler skull fractures. According to the findings, most followed the delayed onset of signs and symptoms. The data considered that delayed care- seeking alone should not suggest child abuse.
