Haddad SA, et al. - Researchers investigated the correlation between percent European genetic ancestry with serum vitamin D levels in African American women belonging to the Black Women's Health Study. Only among women who were not taking vitamin D supplements, the association appeared to be statistically significant. Use of vitamin D supplementation could help to reduce vitamin D deficiency due to genetic ancestry among African Americans.
