Definitive treatment patterns and survival in Stage II non-small cell lung cancer
Lung Cancer Jul 27, 2018
Yan SX, et al. - In the present study, researchers described definitive treatment patterns for stage II non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in the US, and assessed survival by treatment approach. Using the National Cancer Database, patients with clinically-staged stage II NSCLC treated with surgery-based therapy, chemoradiation, conventionally-fractionated radiation (CFR), or stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) were identified. They found that surgery-based therapy and SBRT for stage II NSCLC were rising. Compared to non-operative approaches, surgery-based therapy had improved survival. Findings revealed that chemoradiation and SBRT improved survival over CFR.
