Definitive radiotherapy for localized follicular lymphoma staged by 18F-FDG PET-CT: A collaborative study by ILROG
Blood Nov 22, 2018
Brady JL, et al. - In this multicenter retrospective study, researchers investigated whether more accurate staging by 18F-FDG PET-CT in patients with localized follicular lymphoma (FL) could lead to better patient selection for radiotherapy (RT) and better results. The criteria used in this study for inclusion were: RT alone for untreated stage I-II FL (grade 1-3A) with dose equivalent ≥24 Gy, staged by PET-CT, age ≥18 years, and follow up ≥3 months. Freedom from progression (FFP), local control, and overall survival (OS) were assessed. Compared with earlier series, RT appeared to result in better outcome in PET-CT staged patients; this was particularly seen in stage I disease. These data implied underestimation of the curative potential of RT for truly localized FL.
