Definitive local therapy for oligo-recurrence in patients with completely resected non–small cell lung cancer
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Mar 05, 2020
Matsuguma H, Nakahara R, Wakamatsu I, et al. - Researchers assessed 420 patients who developed recurrence following complete anatomic lung resection for non–small cell lung cancer at their institution between 1986 and 2012 with the aim at elucidating a curable subgroup among these patients. They included 406 patients in this retrospective study after exclusion of 14 patients with insufficient information about recurrence. The analysis revealed improved median postrecurrence (PR)-progression-free survival (PR-PFS) time and long-term PR-PFS rate in these patients in correlation with recent recurrence, oligo-recurrence, and definitive local therapy (DLT). These results support considering DLT first for patients with oligo-recurrence before applying the noncurative treatment.
