Ward M, et al. – The authors performed this review to summarize the targets that were used to treat Dejerine–Roussy syndrome and provide insight into their clinical efficacy. Becuase of technological advancements in deep brain stimulation, its therapeutic effects needed to be reevaluated. In clinical pain management, deep brain stimulation was effectively used as a therapeutic despite a lack of controlled evidence. To definitively evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of deep brain stimulation in treating the drug–resistant patient population, a further clinical investigation was needed.
