Dedicated paediatric Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy medical support: A pre–post observational study

Archives of Diseases in Childhood Sep 01, 2017

Mace AO, et al. – In this observational study, the authors evaluated the impact of introducing a dedicated medical team to Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT), to define the role of increased medical oversight in improving patient outcomes. They reported that the introduction of a formal medical team to Hospital in the Home (HiTH) showed a positive clinical impact on OPAT patients’ outcomes. These findings supported the ongoing utility of medical governance in a nurse–led HiTH service.
