Decreasing secondary primary uterine cancer after breast cancer: A population-based analysis
Gynecologic Oncology Jul 03, 2019
Matsuo K, et al. - Researchers analyzed temporal trends, clinico-pathological features, and survival of women with uterine cancer who had prior breast cancer in this retrospective study, to describe population-based statistics of this patient group. They examined the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program between 1973 and 2013. Antecedent breast cancer was reported in 8235 (3.5%) women of overall 237,686 women with uterine cancer. Being older and white were more likely to be reported as features of women with uterine cancer and antecedent breast cancer than those without a history of breast cancer. Findings revealed a decreasing diagnosis of uterine cancer following breast cancer. High-risk tumor features were seen in relation to uterine tumors after breast cancer. Death from other malignancies was more likely to be reported among women with uterine cancer after breast cancer.
