Suarez-Ortegon MF, et al. - Whether serum ferritin is linked to prevalent/incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) in type 2 diabetes (T2D), was investigated. The association of low iron status with CVD risk in T2D was consistently observed in populations at different cardiovascular risk. Low iron status seemed to be harmful for cardiovascular health in T2D and it may be a target for intervention.
