Decreased colorectal adenoma risk after Helicobacter pylori eradication: A retrospective cohort study
Clinical Infectious Diseases Dec 22, 2018
Hu KC, et al. - Researchers evaluated the association between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and progression of colorectal adenoma in this retrospective cohort study that included 615 adults with no history of colorectal adenoma or cancer at baseline and had participated in a repeated regular health screening examination, including bidirectional gastrointestinal endoscopy, between July 2006 and June 2015. Observation revealed a significant independent association of persistent H. pylori infection with development of colorectal adenoma. They suggest a possible pathophysiological role of H. pylori infection in colorectal adenoma development and their successful eradication may decrease the colorectal adenoma ratio.
