Decreased acute otitis media with treatment failure after introduction of the 10-valent pneumococcal Haemophilus influenzae protein D conjugate vaccine
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal Mar 21, 2018
Eythorsson E, et al. - An assessment was performed of the 10-valent pneumococcal H. influenzae protein D-conjugate vaccine on the incidence of acute otitis media (AOM) with treatment failure. Findings displayed that visits for AOM and ceftriaxone use decreased notably after H. influenzae protein D-conjugate vaccine introduction. Additionally, it was determined that the observed decrease in ceftriaxone use was presumed to depict a decline in AOM with treatment failure, secondary to a decrease in resistant infections.
