Virta LJ, et al. - This study was planned to investigate the recent temporal changes in the incidence of an adult, biopsy-verified coeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) in Finland, a country with a high frequency of coeliac disease (CD). The incidence of biopsy-verified diagnoses was not increasing, although the awareness of the coeliac disease had increased during the past decades, which proposed that exposure to yet unidentified triggering factors for the coeliac disease had plateaued among the Finnish adult population.
