Declining mortality in critically ill patients with cirrhosis in Australia and New Zealand between 2000 and 2015
Journal of Hepatology Aug 15, 2017
Majumdar A, et al. – This study was set up with the aim to describe trends in the mortality of patients with cirrhosis receiving intensive care unit (ICU) admission in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), and to examine the relationship with associated organ failures. In patients with cirrhosis admitted to ICU on a non–elective basis, the mortality had declined significantly over time, similar to non–cirrhotic patients and was predominantly governed by the number of organ failures. Outcomes were similar between non–liver transplant ICUs and liver transplant centres.
