Decision quality among parents who are offered ventilation tube insertion for their children
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology Mar 11, 2020
Newby MD, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to create a Decision Quality (DQ) tool to measure parents’ DQ concerning ventilation tube (VT) insertion in their children. The sample consisted of 100 parent participants (83% were mothers and 14% were fathers). Data reported that the mean Decisional Conflict (DC) score was 8.26 out of 100, showing low DC. When parents chose to place tubes, DQ was higher, as measured with this tool. The DQ instrument has potential use for researching why parents might be rejecting VT when their child meets their criteria.
