Daptomycin use in children: Experience with various types of infection and age groups

Syrogiannopoulos GA, et al. - In view of the high rates of methicillin (40%Â60%) and clindamycin (15%Â25%) resistance among community-acquired Staphylococcus aureus isolates in Greece, researchers performed this study to identify other antimicrobial treatment options such as daptomycin. In this study, daptomycin administered alone or in combination with other antimicrobial agents to children proved efficacious and was well tolerated in the treatment of complicated infections of suspected or proven staphylococcal etiology.
