Dairy products and the risk of developing prostate cancer: A large-scale cohort study (JACC Study) in Japan
Cancer Medicine Oct 08, 2021
Mikami K, Ozasa K, Miki T, et al. - Among Japanese men, an increased risk of developing prostate cancer was found in those who had a high intake of dairy products such as milk.
This large-scale cohort study included 26,464 men (age range: 40–79 years) from 24 Japanese districts.
A total of 412 cases of prostate cancer were identified.
Milk intake was related to a significant risk (Hazard ratio = 1.37) and a dose-dependent response adjusted for age and family history of prostate cancer, stratified by area.
Milk and yogurt intake demonstrated a significantly positive risk as well as a dose–response association adjusted for age, family history of prostate cancer, BMI, and total energy intake, stratified by area.
