Daily opioid use fluctuates as a function of pain, catastrophizing, and affect in patients with sickle cell disease: An electronic daily diary analysis

Finan PH, et al. - This work sought to describe a daily diary study of opioid use in patients with sickle cell disease. Findings revealed an association of daily pain and catastrophizing with short-acting opioid use. Daily negative affect seemed associated with long-acting opioid use. The findings seemed to have broad implications for tracking and defining risk for prescription opioid misuse in patients with daily pain.
