D-dimer plasmatic levels as a marker for diagnosis and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma patients with portal vein thrombosis
Clinical and Experimental Gastroenterology Dec 12, 2018
Malaguarnera M, et al. - Researchers investigated if D-dimer, a fibrin degradation product, testing could be used as a sensitive marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) subjects with portal vein thrombosis (PVT). This study was performed between June 2010 and December 2015 on 118 diagnosed and pathologically confirmed HCC patients in Cannizzaro Hospital, Catania. Plasma D-dimer was observed as a sensitive marker of fibrin turnover in HCC patients with PVT and also allowed for the identification of activated coagulation which might be disclosed in HCC with PVT.
