Cytokine gene polymorphisms associated with various domains of quality of life in women with breast cancer
Journal of Pain and Symptom Management Sep 28, 2017
Alexander K, et al. - Researchers here investigated latent classes with distinct trajectories of quality of life (QOL) from prior to through six months following surgery in a sample of women with breast cancer. In addition, they evaluated for differences in demographic and clinical characteristics, as well as for polymorphisms in cytokine genes, between these latent classes. In this work, during and following breast cancer surgery women experience distinctly different physical well-being, social well-being, and total QOL outcomes. The genetic associations identified indicated that cytokine dysregulation influenced QOL outcomes. However, different cytokines might impact specific QOL domains.
