Cystatin C predicts acute kidney injury and mortality in cirrhotics: A prospective cohort study
Liver International Oct 02, 2017
Maiwall R, et al. - This prospective cohort study aimed to examine the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI), the probability of subsequent episodes, whether AKI itself predisposed to future AKI and the reliability of serum cystatin-C(sCyC) as a biomarker in a prospective cohort of cirrhotics. In cirrhotics, an episode of AKI itself predisposed to subsequent attacks of AKI. Among these patients, scores incorporating CysC could accurately predict the development of AKI and mortality.
