Cystatin C: A more reliable biomarker of renal function in young infants?: A longitudinal cohort study
Acta Pediatrica Mar 19, 2021
Kandasamy Y, et al. - By performing this longitudinal cohort analysis, researchers sought to determine serial CysC (Cystatin C) in a cohort of neonates born preterm until the age of 2 years. They investigated whether CysC concentrations are independent of body weight and would not differ with gestational age. In this prospective cohort analysis, participants were 58 preterm neonates with mean gestation of 26.2 (1.5) weeks, and a mean birth weight of 917 (140) g. Findings revealed that serum CysC concentrations were independent of body weight and remained unaffected by both postnatal age and gender.
