Current status of neuromonitoring in cardiac surgery

Current Anesthesiology Reports Aug 18, 2017

Guarracino F, et al. – This paper describes the current status of neuromonitoring in cardiac surgery. According to data, a prompt detection of neurologic adverse events in cardiac surgery setting has been made possible due to the expanded role of the intraoperative neurologic monitoring in these settings. Furthermore, this method is noninvasive, portable, and reliable. A low grade of evidence has been offered by the current literature for a possible prophylactic impact of intraoperative neuromonitoring against neurologic adverse events.
