Conner–Kerr T, et al. – Authors here sought assess the current perspectives on therapeutic ultrasound in the management of chronic wounds. An evolving literature seemed supporting the role of therapeutic ultrasound in the treatment of chronic wounds, acute injuries such as fractures and split thickness graft donor sites as well as in the modulation of wound–related pain. They recognized modern technology that uses low–frequency (kilohertz), long wave ultrasound as promising compared to older, higher frequency ultrasound (megahertz) devices. These newer devices seemed beneficial in terms of healing rates in various wound types, pain levels and the modulation of proinflammatory cytokines.
