CT texture analysis of pancreatic cancer

European Radiology Feb 05, 2019

Sandrasegaran K, et al. - Using commercially available software (TexRAD Ltd, Cambridge, UK), researchers examined the value of CT texture analysis (CTTA) in predicting prognosis of unresectable pancreatic cancer. Study participants included 60 patients with unresectable pancreatic cancers at presentation for post-processing with CTTA. Data reported that the median overall and progression-free survivals of the cohort were 13.3 and 7.8 months. Findings suggested a significant association of CTTA features with overall survival in pancreas cancer, especially in patients with non-metastatic, locally advanced disease. High kurtosis and mean value of positive pixels were the best predictors of poor prognosis.
