CT texture analysis of liver metastases in PNETs vs NPNETs: Correlation with histopathological findings
European Journal of Radiology Jan 14, 2020
Martini I, Polici M, Zerunian M, et al. - Investigators sought to contrast CT and Texture features of liver metastases in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (PNETs) and in Non-Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (NPNETs) according to tumor grading, overall survival, time to progression (TTP) and Ki67 index. They compared 23 people with PNETs and 25 people with NPNETs who were affected by liver metastases. They found significant results in the arterial phase for the value of Skewness in PNETs G2 and NPNETs G2; in the portal phase between PNETs vs NPNETs, PNETs G1 vs NPNETs G1, PNETs G2 vs NPNETs G2; the value of Mean in portal phase in PNETs vs NPNETs. The study suggests that CT texture features were notably different in PNETs from NPNETs. Moreover, textural features such as Entropy, Kurtosis and Skewness, were found to have a significant association with greater mortality risk.
