CT diagnosis of pleural and stromal invasion in malignant subpleural pure ground-glass nodules: An exploratory study
European Radiology Dec 16, 2018
Zhao Q, et al. - Authors evaluated the CT findings and clinical data of 115 subjects between January 2012 and December 2015, to estimate the risk of visceral pleural invasion (VPI) and to enhance the diagnosis of invasive adenocarcinoma (IA) in pure ground-glass nodules (pGGNs) in association with pleura, via a comprehensive analysis of the thin-section CT highlights of subpleural malignant pGGNs. The information was categorized as thin-section CT within 1 month before surgery proved pGGN in contact with pleura and the pGGN was confirmed as malignancy by surgery. They observed no pleural invasion in any of the pGGNs. They concluded factors like tumor shape, relative density, and tumour–pleural relationship could independently prognosticate IA.
