CT characteristics of non–small cell lung cancer with anaplastic lymphoma kinase rearrangement: A systematic review and meta-analysis
American Journal of Roentgenology Oct 31, 2019
Kim TH, et al. - Sixteen studies that assessed CT peculiarities of non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with and without anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) rearrangement were involved, comprising of 3,113 individuals with NSCLC in order to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis about CT features of NSCLC with ALK rearrangement. Of individuals with ALK rearrangement, the overall prevalence was 17%. In contrast with NSCLC without ALK rearrangement, on CT images those with ALK rearrangement were more often solid, central in location, and 3 cm or smaller and had lower contrast-enhanced CT attenuation, more often had N2 or N3 disease, lymphangitic carcinomatosis, pleural effusion, or pleural metastasis and less often had lung metastasis. Aamong CT features, heterogeneity differed. No important publication bias was noticed. Thus, NSCLC with ALK rearrangement had various different CT features in comparison with those without ALK rearrangement. Moreover, these CT biomarkers may aid to recognize patients prone to have ALK rearrangement. \
