CT bone density analysis of low-impact proximal femur fractures using Hounsfield units
Clinical Imaging May 11, 2019
Narayanan A, et al. - In patients with and without spontaneous femoral fractures, researchers quantified and compared changes in bone mineral density through CT analysis. For this investigation, consecutive series of patients with CT imaging were compared with age and gender controls for spontaneous femoral fractures. Without significant differences in mean age, gender, or body mass index, 24 spontaneous fractures and 25 controls were analyzed. There are no differences in density between cases and checks at fracture sites. According to findings, spontaneous femoral fractures in patients show lower bone density than asymptomatic controls. Bone insufficiency, rather than at the fracture site, is best demonstrated proximal or distal to.
