CT and MRI features in adult patients with orbital subperiosteal abscess secondary to paranasal sinus mucocele
ENT Journal Aug 11, 2017
Ding CW, et al. – This research entailed the inspection of the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of orbital subperiosteal abscess (OSPA). The postcontrast MRI disclosed arch– and ring–shaped enhancement, respectively, at the edge of the OSPA and the paranasal sinus mucocele (PSM). Septal enhancement separated them more clearly. Among adults, PSM was found to be a significant cause of OSPA. CT and MRI accurately displayed these entities' characteristic findings and their anatomic association. They played an important role in the differential diagnosis.
