Crystalloid coloading vs colloid coloading in elective Caesarean section: Postspinal hypotension and vasopressor consumption, a prospective, observational clinical trial
Journal of Anesthesia Dec 12, 2018
Kaufner L, et al. - Researchers used a prospective, observational clinical trial design to investigate whether the mean blood pressure drop after induction of spinal anaesthesia for Caesarean section is greater when coloading with crystalloids was opted instead of colloid coloading in order to prevent maternal hypotension. The prospectively collected data from the crystalloid group between November 2014 and July 2015 were analyzed. They observed a greater drop in mean blood pressure and a higher incidence of hypotension in association with crystalloid coloading vs colloid coloading. They also noted that the type of fluid did not influence the neonatal outcome.
