Cryopreservation of testicular tissue in pre-pubertal and adolescent boys at risk for infertility: A low risk procedure
Journal of Pediatric Urology Mar 16, 2018
Ming JM, et al. - The outcomes for all pre-pubertal patients who underwent testicular tissue (TT) biopsies for fertility preservation (FP) were reported herein. Findings suggested that 5.9% patients developed complications after biopsy viz, ipsilateral epididymo-orchitis (resolved with antibiotics) and ipsilateral torsed appendix testis (managed conservatively). Researchers safely performed the pre-pubertal TT biopsy for cryopreservation and it was most often coordinated concomitantly with other medically necessary procedures. They noted that the safety profile supported performing this procedure while the requirements to make it a viable option for future fertility are fulfilled by the technological advances.
