Cross-sectional association between oral health and retinal microcirculation
Journal of Clinical Periodontology Apr 13, 2018
Samietz S, et al. - Authors evaluated the relationship between periodontitis and number of teeth with retinal vessel diameters in a population-based study to probe the association between oral health status and microcirculation. Periodontal conditions were seen to be associated with the arterio-venous ratio (AVR) in men. Microvascular endothelium function could be impacted by periodontitis. Findings suggested that the risk for other age-related diseases could be reduced by improving oral health to reduce periodontitis.
