Cranial autonomic symptoms of migraine in Japan: Prospective study of 373 migraine patients at a tertiary headache center
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Jul 05, 2020
Danno D, Wolf J, Ishizaki K, et al. - Via performing a cross‐sectional study of 373 patients with migraine with face‐to‐face interviews, researchers sought to ascertain the clinical characteristics of cranial autonomic symptoms (CAS) of Japanese patients with migraine and to attain insight into the pathophysiological implications. According to the findings, Caucasians as well as Asians patients with migraine commonly exhibit CAS. Patients with CAS had more frequent cutaneous allodynia than those without CAS, indicating the contribution of central sensitization to CAS. Asian patients with migraine might have noteworthy osmophobia. Researchers here emphasize the necessity for comments on CAS in the international classification of headache disorders migraine criteria to avoid a misdiagnosis.
