Sioofy-Khojine AB, et al. - Physicians examined whether Coxsackievirus group B (CVB) infections, which were linked to the initiation of islet autoimmunity, correlated with either insulin autoantibody (IAA) or GAD65 (GADA) phenotypes in children with HLA-conferred susceptibility to type 1 diabetes. With regard to the initiation of islet autoimmunity being particularly vital in the insulin-driven autoimmune process, CVB1 infections could serve as contributory factors.
