Could cone-beam computed tomography demonstrate the lateral accessory canals?
BMC Oral Health Dec 04, 2017
Ji Y, et al. - In this present study, the physicians evaluated the ability of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to assess the root canal of mandibular incisors at 3 different scanning settings, compared with the canal staining and tooth clearing (CS) technique as the gold standard. The high-resolution scan (HZ) mode ought to be selected to demonstrate the root canal system. Using this mode, partial lateral and accessory canals (LACs) could be detected. However, the potential benefit of the diagnostic information must be weighed against the increased radiation dose.
