Cost-utility analysis of imaging for surveillance and diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma

Lima PH, et al. - In patients at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), researchers compared imaging-based surveillance and diagnostic strategies while taking into account technically inadequate examinations and patient compliance. Findings revealed that CT for HCC surveillance and diagnosis and complete MRI for inadequate CT was most cost-effective in an optimal compliance scenario. They suggested that abbreviated MRI might be an alternative to US-based surveillance in a conservative compliance scenario.
